In 2016 the United Nations General Assembly elected Kazakhstan, Sweden and three other countries to serve Security Council. Kazakhstan became the first Central Asian country to sit on the UN Security Council. The former U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan, said that “based on the solid successes ofKazakhstan to establish CICA, Chairmanship of the OSCE and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,
Kazakhstan, like no other country, deserves special trust and is a suitable candidate for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.”
In 2016 a conference for Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (PNND) with representatives of from 50 countries from around the world was held in Kazakhstan. The conference participants supported that a nuclear-weapons-free world should be the main goal of humanity in the 21st century,
and that this should be achieved no later than the 100th anniversary of the United Nations in 2045. Kazakhstan announced the establishment of a new international prize for outstanding contribution to
nuclear disarmament and the achievement of a nuclear weapon free world.
In the end of 2016, Kazakhstan was ready to host multilateral talks on the conflict in Syria in the capital of Astana. Kazakhstan is ready to host all sides for talks in Astana.

Swedish traveler to cross Kazakhstan on camel
The famous Swedish traveler Christian Bodegren is going to cross Kazakhstan from the East to the west on a camel in support of EXPO 2017.
“The idea of a travel across Mongolia and Kazakhstan because it is history of the Great silk way was always interesting to me. Nomadic life of people of these countries is also interesting to me. Kazakhstan – very curious country for many people, and I want to present them knowledge of this state. I will document the life of people to show to the whole world the movie about your country.” K.
